Sailing Away
Sailing Away

We probably shouldn't admit this, but we almost threw away the little stick component of this sculpture.  Essentially, it was all that was left of a nice long stick that we'd cut up into small pieces for some other sculptures/hangings or whatever it is we do.  Then we noticed how kind of cool it looked, lying there on the table top, and so we put in a bag with a bunch of other sticks.  Then, it wasn't too much later that a stone happened to weasel its way to the top of the pile and make us realize it was a match made in stone heaven.  When we look at this sculpture, for some reason we are reminded of a sailing ship, and not necessarily a very graceful one, but an old-time Spanish Galleon.  Of course it doesn't hurt that the stone has a hint of a sail on it, unfurled to run before the wind.
